เครื่องวิเคราะห์ความชื้น ด้วยอินฟราเรด (Infrared Moisture Analyzer) วัดปริมาณความชื้นโดยผ่านการตรวจจับการสูญเสียน้ำหนักของตัวอย่าง โดยใช้ความร้อนจากหลอดไฟ Mid-wave Infrared Quartz โดยการทำให้แห้ง คล้ายกับการสูญเสียน้ำที่เกิดจากการอบแห้ง ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในวิธีการวัดมาตรฐานอย่างเป็นทางการ และเป็นพื้นฐานของการวัดปริมาณความชื้น สามารถวัดปริมาณความชื้นของตัวอย่างได้หลากหลาย เกือบทั้งหมด

FD-660 นั้นมีขนาดกะทัดรัดกว่าเมื่อเทียบกับรุ่นอื่นๆ การใช้งานง่ายเพียงใส่ตัวอย่าง (Sample Mass) 1 ถึง 80g ขนาดถาดชั่ง ø110mm ตัวเครื่องมีโหมดการวัด แบบ Auto และ Timed Mode สามารถปรับตั้งอุณหภูมิได้ตั้งแต่ 30 ถึง 180℃  ตัวเซนเซอร์ควบคุมอุณหภูมิเป็นแบบ Thermistor แม่นยำ และยังมีประสิทธิภาพยอดเยี่ยมในการอบแห้งตัวอย่าง เนื่องจากรังสีอินฟราเรดที่ฉายนั้นเป็นช่วงความยาวคลื่นซึ่งน้ำจะทำปฏิกิริยากับความร้อนได้ดี และให้อายุการใช้งานของหลอดไฟยาวนานถึง 7000 ชั่วโมง (ถอดเปลี่ยนเองได้) ซึ่งอายุการใช้งานยาวนานกว่าหลอดที่ทำความร้อนแบบฮาโลเจน (Halogen heaters)
